Finding/Discovering Your True Will
“One can not do one's True Will intelligently unless one knows what it is.”
- Crowley, Magick, Book 4 pg.174
How to Discover, Know, and Follow Your True Will
Ask yourself:
- What is my purpose in this life?
- What am I here in this body, in this world, in this reality to do?
If you had no limitations on your life, what would you be doing?
- no limitations of money, your location, the circumstances of your life, your family and friends, …..
You have to root out and remove all the negative beliefs, the beliefs in lack and limitation.
The beliefs that the world is a certain way, so you can’t do what you want to do.
Beliefs that you are not free….
Start doing magic and say “may I be show the path ahead to accomplishing my Will in a way that is so loud and clear that I can not miss it.”
Both Discovering & Creating it
It is both a Discovering and a Creating Some of it you find out through learning about yourself
Some of it you decide, you choose, you take certain paths and crystallize certain potentials into reality, parallel versions of you….
Practically how to live and follow the TW
One must find out for oneself, and make sure beyond doubt, who one is, what one is, why one is ...Being thus conscious of the proper course to pursue, the next thing is to understand the conditions necessary to following it out. After that, one must eliminate from oneself every element alien or hostile to success, and develop those parts of oneself which are specially needed to control the aforesaid conditions.
- Crowley, Magick, Book 4 p.134)
Living your truest nature, passion, desire, will
Identifying a Child’s True Will
Our society does not cultivate a child’s true self or true will In fact, our society has tremendous mind control and pressure to have children forget, reject, and never cultivate their true self and true desires.
Most of us have had our true self and true will suppressed and restricted in many obvious and subtle ways.
“In Crowley's essay The Secret Conference (written under the pseudonym "Gerald Aumont", and prefaced to The Heart of the Master), he suggests that a technique must be devised by which a child's True Will may be discovered at birth, or as early as possible in life, in order to permit the correct ordering of society.” The Caste system in India was originally a version of this - it requires a guru who can see the true character of the child…

Aleister Crowley, “Theorems of Magic” - excerpts especially relating to the idea of True Will
"Every intentional act is a Magical Act. …. Every man and every woman is a star." That is to say, every human being is intrinsically an independent individual with his own proper character and proper motion. Every man and every woman has a course, depending partly on the self, and partly on the environment which is natural and necessary for each. Anyone who is forced from his own course, either through not understanding himself, or through external opposition, comes into conflict with the order of the Universe, and suffers accordingly. A man whose conscious will is at odds with his True Will is wasting his strength. He cannot hope to influence his environment efficiently. A man who is doing his True Will has the inertia of the Universe to assist him. …. Man is ignorant of the nature of his own being and powers. Even his idea of his limitations is based on experience of the past. and every step in his progress extends his empire. There is, therefore, no reason to assign theoretical limits§ to what he may be, or to what he may do. …. Man is capable of being, and using, anything which he perceives; for everything that he perceives is in a certain sense a part of his being. He may thus subjugate the whole Universe of which he is conscious to his individual Will. …. Every individual is essentially sufficient to himself. But he is unsatisfactory to himself until he has established himself in his right relation with the Universe. Magick is the Science of understanding oneself and one's conditions. It is the Art of applying that understanding in action. Every man has an indefeasible right to be what he is. Every man must do Magick each time that he acts or even thinks, since a thought is an internal act whose influence ultimately affects action, thought it may not do so at the time. Every man has a right, the right of self-preservation, to fulfill himself to the utmost. Every man should make Magick the keynote of his life. He should learn its laws and live by them. Every man has a right to fulfill his own will without being afraid that it may interfere with that of others; for if he is in his proper path, it is the fault of others if they interfere with him.
- Aleister Crowley, “Theorems of Magic”
Damien Echols on the TW
“We ourselves are manifestations. Our Higher Self manifested our lower self or “ego” in order to have a particular experience. And the experience that we are here to have is unique to each of us. In magick, we call that experience we are here to have our Will - and no two people’s Will is exactly the same. This is what makes every single person on this planet unique. We each have our own dharma to fulfill, our own purpose to manifest in order to continue our growth and development… Whatever we are is exactly what we needed to be in order to manifest our purpose… Once we know our Will, and dedicate ourselves to it completely, things like envy become foreign concepts that it would not occur to us to engage in. We are focused on our own path, our entire existence bent towards fulfilling our destiny. Whatever others may posses or do becomes insignificant, as our focus remains unwaveringly fastened upon our purpose.”
- DE
- Much of learning magick is about learning our purpose. Most don’t yet know. But as we learn how our psyche and energy system works, we come to understand more about ourselves - including what our Will is. We also realize that however - or whoever -we are is the best possible situation to fulfill that dharma. Even if it seems unfair to those on the outside looking in. *My own situation, for example....for me, my will was to do magick. I always knew this. My higher self orchestrated 20 years for me to sit in a cell and practice. No job. No social life. No comforts or distractions. Nothing but life in a vacuum, where even concepts such as time ceased to have meaning. There was only me, and an infinity of practice. It was harsh. It was brutal. It nearly killed me. But I was able to dedicate every waking moment to the study and practice of ceremonial magick, which is something most mages in modern society cannot do. I am now thankful for the experience, even if I wouldn’t be eager to repeat it.

The Law: Do Thy Will
Law of Thelema - "Do what though wilt, shall be the whole of the Law" Crowley as a prophet who brought the word “Thelema”
It’s connection to Bashar/Sassani and “following one’s excitement/passion” The rather radical idea of radical individualism and living one’s deepest passion
According to Lon Milo DuQuette, a Thelemite is anyone who bases their actions on striving to discover and accomplish their true will,2 when a person does their True Will, it is like an orbit, their niche in the universal order, and the universe assists them:3 “But the Magician knows that the pure Will of every man and every woman is already in perfect harmony with the divine Will; in fact they are one and the same”
- DuQuette
'Every man has an indefeasible right to be what he is.” “Every man has a right, the right of self-preservation, to fulfill himself to the utmost.” “Every man has a right to fulfill his own will without being afraid that it may interfere with that of others; for if he is in his proper path, it is the fault of others if they interfere with him.”

“Do What Thou Will”: Living your passion with integrity
“Do What Thou Will”
Living your passion with integrity
Natural Law, Objective Morality, Non-violence Do not commit violence, theft against any other being. Do not block their True Will, their Free Will
“Do What Thou Will” is both a formula for how to live one’s life, and also contains within it a moral guideline for society.
Do what you will and allow others to do their will - so long as you are not interfering or committing violence against others.
And if you are committing violence, then it is not really your true will, because this never needs to require violence.
Ayn Rand’s idea of pursing one’s rational self interest
