The Zodiac (& what it is)

“Think of the signs of the zodiac as being an eternal cycle that serves as a training ground for souls incarnating on the material plane. We are born under the influence of a particular star sign because it has lessons which we need to learn. In one incarnation we may be born into Sagittarius because their are certain lessons we need to learn there, while next time we may incarnate under the influence of Cancer, or Gemini. This cycle may continue for millions of year until we learn to break the hold the wheel of the stars exerts on us. The lessons of some signs are harder to endure and a heavier burden than others, while others aren't quite as difficult. By regularly invoking all 12 archangels that preside over the zodiacal energies, we equalize and balance the influence of all the signs within our aura, so that we are no longer controlled by them. Only when the stars no longer pull us this way and that can we truly have free will and complete the great work. We use the Pentagram ritual to invoke them, instead of the Hexagram ritual, even though the Hexagram is used in most planetary magick. The reason is because the Hexagram is an entirely solar ritual, through and through. The Pentagram, however, is deeply connected to all for elements - and the elements are deeply intertwined with the spheres on the tree of life, the planets that correspond with the spheres, the zodiacal signs they rule, etc. I learned this through trial and error. I've tried to invoke the angels afyer doing the Lesser banishing of the Hexagram, but the effect felt energetically muted, faded, or washed out, if that makes sense. What Are the Zodiac Signs?

The 12 signs are living intelligences, or archetypal fields, embedded in the etheric and astral structure of the solar system.

Each sign is a gate, a lens, through which solar logos (the Christos/Sun-intelligence) expresses different facets of divine intention and soul blueprint.

• The word zoology also comes from zōion, so yes—zodiac and zoology are siblings etymologically.

Thus, the Zodiac is literally the Wheel of Life or Circle of Creatures—not just in the animal sense, but in the mythic, symbolic sense of archetypal intelligences.

The crowned initiate, the Grail King, the Magus of the 12 Rays, is he who has integrated all 12 archetypes into a coherent divine Self.

The 12 Simple Letters correspond to the 12 Zodiac Signs

 Though the associations vary slightly between systems, here's a common one:

• 12 hours of day and night → The cycle of light and darkness.
• 12 lunar cycles (moons) per year.
• 12 tribes of Israel, 12 disciples, 12 Olympians, 12 petals of the heart chakra.
• 12 tones in the chromatic scale, 12 cranial nerves, 12 around the One.

The number 12 represents cosmic wholeness expressed through diversity.

• It is the manifest circle of unity (the 1) expressing itself into multiplicity (the 2) and stability (the 4): 1 × 2 × 3 × 2 = 12.
