“For a very long time I dismissed working with zodiacal angels, thinking of them as a kind of unimportant sub-personality of planetary or tree of life angels. Then one day I felt a nudge from my H.G.A. to perform what I now think of as the "zodiacal operation." I invoked all 12 of the Angels of the zodiac for the very first time, and I was changed forever. It launched me down an entirely new path of study and practice that continues to this day. So why are they so important? Well, consider this: when we talk about horoscopes, we usually say "I'm a (fill in the blank with your sign.) For me, it's Sagittarius. What does this really mean? It means that that energy is predominant in my astrological makeup - and if any energy is predominant, it means our energy is not balanced. When our energy is out of balance, we're not fully in control of our impulses, desires, and longings. We are subtly pulled this way and that, without ever even realizing there is a chain attached to our neck. In the higher grades of the Golden Dawn, magicians are told to invoke the zodiacal angels and internalize the zodiacal angels often, so that the chain of the stars is broken and we are free from their influence. By working with the elemental angels, we correct imbalances in our elemental makeup. By working with the angels from the tree of life, we correct our planetary imbalances. And working with the zodiacal angels corrects the imbalances of the stars within our aura.” - Damien Echols
