Courtly love transforms the warrior into one who can be devoted, refined, vulnerable, poetic, restrained, and changed by longing. Eros begins to civilize Mars. The Grail world is not only masculine heroics. It teaches force to become attentive to beauty and the Knight to kneel before a love that cannot be possessed. This prepares the Lover and Bardic paths.
