The Literary Grammar of Adventure
Medieval romance is the genre of wandering, marvel, enchantment, hidden identity, forest, castle, maiden, duel, test, sacred object, lost kingdom, and return. It is the narrative form in which the soul’s initiation becomes adventure. Romance is therefore a primary grammar for the Tale of the Exiled Prince: spiritual reality appears as a world through which one must travel.
