Avalon Is Not an Escape
Arthurian myth need not be treated as either literal chronicle or disposable fiction. It works imaginally: persons, places, and events disclose patterns of soul, culture, and sacred history that can be recognized through many tellings. Avalon, the Grail Castle, the Forest, and Camelot are therefore thresholds of perception. They call the seeker to return to the ordinary world with greater responsibility, not to abandon it for fantasy.
