The Siege Perilous signifies the unique function assigned to a soul in the Great Story. The wrong person attempts a destiny not their own and is destroyed; the prepared person arrives at the appointed time. Its teaching is vocation, not egoic specialness: each soul has a particular place, call, and service that cannot be fulfilled by imitation.
