The Modal Crosses (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable) Each modality forms a “cross” through the zodiac. The four cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) mark the turning points of the year. The fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) hold the peak of each season. The mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) dissolve the old and prepare the new.
