The Authority Problem — ACIM identifies this as the root of all conflict: the refusal to accept God as one's Author. "The issue of authority is really a question of authorship."
Nearly the whole ego thought system rests upon this hidden fantasy:
“the wish of God’s Son to father Him.”
The original error is not merely wanting something God forbade. It is wanting to reverse creation itself. The Son wants to become his own cause.
