Prayers in the Text said to Jesus, God, or the Holy Spirit
How to begin each day
You should begin each day with the prayer “Help me to perform whatever miracles you want of me today.” (T-1.15.2:4)
The miracle prayer
The miracle prayer is: If you will tell me what to do, I will to do it. This prayer is the door that leads out of the desert forever. (T-1.46.9:3-4) The corrected miracle prayer A channel must learn to do only what it is supposed to do. The prayer should therefore read: If you will tell me what to do, only that I will to do. (T-1.46.12:5-7)
The Atonement prayer
I would like to pray that my will be united with thine, recognizing that thy perfect love will suffice (or correct) for my imperfect love. I pray that I may accept the Atonement with conviction, recognizing its inestimable worth, and my own divine worth as part of this identification with thine. I pray that my fear be replaced by an active sense of thy love, and thy continual willingness to help me overcome the split, or divided will, which is responsible for my difficulty with this. I accept the divinity of the messages I have received, and affirm my will in both accepting and acting upon the Atonement principle. Here I am. (T-2.IX.14.2-6)
Prayer for the miracle
The prayer for the miracle is: Jesus, help me see my brother [name] as he really is, and thus release both him and me. Anytime there is anything unloving that crosses your mind, you should immediately recognize that you do not want to hurt your brother. (T-3.V.10:12-14)
“Here I am, Lord”
Perhaps you are not too sure of this, and for this reason we suggest that you concentrate on “Here I am, Lord.” ²Repeat this very short phrase and don’t think of anything else. ³Just pull in your mind slowly from everywhere else and center it on these words. (T-3.IX.12) When trying to make a decision for God Say to the Holy Spirit only, “Decide for me,” and it is done. (T-14.IV.8:1)
The Course’s version of the Lord’s Prayer
Forgive us our illusions, Father, and help us to accept our true relationship with You, in which there are no illusions, and where none can ever enter. ⁵Our holiness is Yours. ⁶What can there be in us that needs forgiveness, when Yours is perfect? ⁷The sleep of forgetfulness is only the unwillingness to remember Your forgiveness and Your love. ⁸Let us not wander into temptation, for the temptation of the Son of God is not Your will. ⁹And let us receive only what You have given, and accept but this into the minds which You created, and which You love. ¹⁰Amen. (T-16.VII.13:4-10) When anything strikes fear in you When anything seems to you to be a source of fear, when any situation strikes you with terror and makes your body tremble and the cold sweat of fear comes over it, remember it is always for one reason; the ego has perceived [that situation] as a symbol of fear, a sign of sin and death….Confronted with such seeming uncertainty of meaning, judge it not. Remember the holy presence of the One given to you to be the Source of judgment. Give it to Him to judge for you, and say: Take this from me and look upon it, judging it for me. Let me not see it as a sign of sin and death, nor use it for destruction. Teach me how not to make of it an obstacle to peace, but let You use it for me, to facilitate its coming. (T-19.IV(C).13:4-6) When you think your brother does not merit escape from guilt God’s Son is perfect, or he cannot be God’s Son. Nor will you know him, if you think he does not merit the escape from guilt in all its consequences and its forms. There is no way to think of him but this, if you would know the truth about yourself. I thank You, Father, for Your perfect Son, and in his glory will I see my own. Here is the joyful statement that there are no forms of evil that can overcome the Will of God; the glad acknowledgment that guilt has not succeeded by your wish to make illusions real. And what is this except a simple statement of the truth? (T-30.VII.8:8)
