Steiner’s Ideas on Christ

Steiner’s Ideas on Christ

“The Christ-Being is not a human being but an entity from the higher hierarchies that dwelt on earth for three years among human beings.” — Rudolf Steiner, The World of the Spirit, GA 150, lecture VIII, 21 December 1913 Steiner saw the cosmic Christ as the manifestation of a single entity, a Sun-Being, and the greatest spirit being ever to incarnate on Earth. For Steiner, Christ was not only a new Solar Hero in the Mysteries of Antiquity but, far more importantly, the Mystery of Golgotha was itself a pivotal point in the evolution of humanity and the redemption of the earth. In keeping with Gnosticism and Esoteric Christianity, he also viewed Christ Jesus as one part-divine and one part-human; that is, a shared incarnation of the highest divine spirit (Christ) and the purest human soul (Jesus).
