Your mind is in need of healing it is contaminated, ill, wounded. It has a shadow of darkness on it, a shadow of fear….
In the Great Story the land is blighted and their is a shadow of fear. The Dark Lord sits enthroned in his dark castle and he stretches out his influence throughout the realm. A shadow lies over the land and a darkness exists which engenders fear….
The Mind is the self, it is the individual, and it is the collective The king is one with the land - if the mind of the prince or king is shadowed by an evil taint, then so is the land, so is everything.
The High Fantasy trope of the Dark Lord - the demiurge, the ego, the darkest shadow power that exists within the hero, projected outwards in physical form as the ultimate evil lord and adversary
The mind of man is wounded by the original separation, by the Fall. Not by Original Sin itself,, but in the belief in it. Some seed of fear planted deep within the mind. And that seed inevitably sprouts and it’s roots and branches wrap itself all the way around and within the mind and poison everything that is perceived and believed and thought and felt….
And all the darkness and hate and evil you see in the world is not more than, and surely nothing less than, that shadow in your mind seen without. All the dark play of attack and defense, all the tragic drama that you see and participate in, that you feed your attention-energy to, its all the same war that’s going on in the depths of your mind.
The mind is in bondage. It suffers under an ancient curse. Yet it is your own dark spell. No others.
The guilt in the mind makes a fearful world, then the mind looks upon the world and says, “See, my fear is justified.” And when the mind is shadowed, that overlay gets applied to everything you see and experience and create. And the world-expeirence reflects to you that which is seeded in your mind…
To heal the mind is to go to the heart and the root of it all. To heal the separation from your Creator. Heal the sense of guilt and fear. The need to attack and defend. To practice forgiveness - the wiping away of all judgement and grevience.
The Hero must go into the depths of the dark castle, to face the Dark Lord To be ready and willing to give up one’s life for Truth and Victory over the Dark. To Liberate himself and his people, to find and bring out the Light.
IN the end the Great Story is all just a dream unfolding in the Mind. The Great Epic tell’s the Soul’s ultimate path and story. The entire drama occurs only within your mind and all the characters are aspects of your psyche/soul. Yet it also plays out in the world, in the dream itself, in the events and adventure of your life.
In the Great Story the world is ill because the King and the Hero’s mind is wounded and tainted. And the hero goes on the long journey and in the end has the final battle with the dark lord and finds out that the evil was ultimately only ever within him, and he has the power to vanquish it. but it requires a surrender and total death. And only after death may what is real be resurrected. And so the Dark Lord is vanquished and disappears totally, the land immediately and magically heals, the Hero returns as King. The Kingdom is full of Light and Perfection. The Royal Wedding occurs and the Nation and the royal family live happily ever after.
The corrupting influence of the ring of power - the ring of the ego, the weapon of the Enemy. You have to destroy it in the place of it’s own making.
The entire true spiritual path is the healing of the Mind. For it is only in the mind that illness, separation, fear, ignorance is.
If it’s in the mind, it’s in you. For all you are is a consciousness, a Mind, a being that is awareness.
You have been sick so long, and you take it for normal, that it takes a long sustained practice to heal the mind. And there are not many full and comprehensive paths that exist as a whole teaching and course.
the Great Epic is not merely a story about a hero defeating evil. It is the soul realizing that the adversary was an image of its own separated mind. The final battle is therefore not conquest but surrender. Victory is not domination but the undoing of the false self. The Dark Lord disappears because he never had true being. The Kingdom returns because it was never truly destroyed.
