Rome is easy to understate in a Greece + Jerusalem narrative. But Western civilization also inherits:
- Roman law;
- citizenship;
- republican and imperial political forms;
- Latin;
- administration;
- roads/infrastructure;
- legal personhood;
- Church institutional structure.
Athens gives philosophy. Jerusalem gives revelation. But Rome gives much of the institutional body.
