- humanity scattered across mythic prehistory;
- gods, sages, floods, kings, temples, civilizations.
It ends:
in one city of Mesopotamia, one man hears a Call.
That is an enormous narrative contraction.

Why does the Great Story narrow from the whole ancient world into one family?
The deeper role of Abraham
Abraham can be understood not simply as “the next historical figure.”
He represents a new method of preservation.
Before Abraham, sacred wisdom is distributed through:
- civilization;
- priesthood;
- myth;
- temple;
- kingship;
- mystery.
With Abraham:
sacred memory becomes covenant.
The primordial tradition is diffuse.
The Abrahamic tradition becomes genealogical, narrative, ethical, historical.
God calls one person. That person becomes family. The Family becomes a people. The people become a covenantal vessel.
