Remember.

Remember the Exodus.

Remember the covenant.

Remember the Sabbath.

Remember what God has done.

Teach it to your children.

Bind it to your body.

Recite it.

Celebrate it annually.

Write it.

Build it into ritual.

This is perhaps one of Israel’s deepest gifts to the Royal Art:

Memory becomes a spiritual discipline.

This is why sacred calendar, liturgy, law, feast, scripture, genealogy, and Temple all matter.

They are technologies of remembrance.
