Grace Within the Shape of Story
Escape is not desertion of duty but release from imprisoning assumptions. Consolation is the intuition that despair is not ultimate. Eucatastrophe is catastrophe unexpectedly transfigured by Grace. The Gospel is Tolkien’s supreme eucatastrophic pattern. The Royal Tale should likewise allow genuine loss while building toward a turn no mechanism can force: disaster opened from within by gift.
