Aeons are divine powers, orders, or personified attributes in many Gnostic cosmologies; the term derives from the Greek word for an age or eternal realm. In Valentinian thought, the Aeons together form the Pleroma and are often arranged in complementary pairs called syzygies. Their names, number, and relationships vary from text to text, so no single diagram should be mistaken for the whole Gnostic tradition.
Aeons and syzygies matter because they express divine reality as relational fullness rather than isolated abstraction. For the Royal Art, they provide a symbolic grammar of polarity, communion, and sacred marriage: the many divine qualities are understood as reflections of unity, and their healing points beyond division toward the restored wholeness of the One.
