The Symbol of Awakening
Light is the enduring image of divine presence, knowledge, life, and return: the first light of Genesis; the Johannine Logos; Christ as Light of the World; the Sons of Light; the Gnostic spark; Manichaean Light; Hermetic illumination; Neoplatonic radiance; the Uncreated Light of Tabor; the alchemical inner Sun. Light reveals without coercion. It is the natural symbol of awakening because to know is to see, and to awaken is to remember the radiance that ignorance had obscured. The Disciple of Light does not acquire a foreign power; the Disciple remembers their origin.
