The First Great Interiorization
After Pentecost, the Christic and ancient mystery inheritance enters many languages, cultures, schools, churches, monasteries, and lineages. There is no single simple historical line. There are apostolic, Pauline, and Johannine Christianities; Gnostic and Hermetic currents; Alexandrian theology; Neoplatonism and theurgy; desert spirituality; Manichaeism; Syriac Christianity; and later Islamic mysticism. Book VI is the age in which sacred history becomes interior psychology. Exile, bondage, ascent, revelation, and return are discovered as dramas within the soul. The Light is scattered, yet not extinguished.
