The Person as Living Allegory
In the Auden letter, Tolkien says it may be impossible to write any story that is not allegorical insofar as it “comes to life,” because each person is an allegory, embodying universal truth and everlasting life in a particular tale clothed in time and place.
Incarnation as living allegory. Each soul is a universal truth expressed in a particular life.
The soul as narrative being, the participatory myth, and the idea that the archetypal Story is inside the soul.
