In the high fantasy epic romance, certain objects are not mere tools. They are vessels of power, memory, authority, temptation, or initiation. The object concentrates the whole drama into visible form.
The Sword, the Grail, the Ring, the Crown, the Book, and the Key are not simply useful. They are symbols that act.

The Sword divides truth from falsehood. It is the weapon of the Knight and the sign of rightful action.

The Key opens what force cannot break.
