The Adversary may be understood not only as evil will, but as that which breaks meaning, coherence, memory, lineage, and continuity.
Evil atomizes. It isolates scenes from the whole. It makes the world feel random, mechanical, and forgetful.
In that sense, evil is anti-mythic and anti-narrative.
Evil is separation and destruction. It is a distortion woven into the plot, a character acting in a way that is violent and fearful, and therefore seeding a poisonous narrative.
