Templum: a sacred space marked out for ritual or observation.
Classical definition (Latin sources):
Templum = a ritually consecrated area defined by an augur for observing signs.
It later came to mean temple, sanctuary, or holy precinct.
The Latin word for time is tempus.
It is common in modern esoteric interpretation to associate “templum” with “temporal” because both share the Indo-European root tem- (“to cut, divide”). But this is an interpretive overlay, not a historical definition.
templum = consecrated space
tempus = time
