If, then, the end times are either nigh or already upon us, and the Christian conception of them is in some way predictive, we must think about the concept of the “katechon.” The katechon is described in the Bible as a restraining force that prevents the arrival of the “lawless one,” the Antichrist. It is only once the katechon is removed or hijacked that the Antichrist can ascend to global power. -
