The Second Coming in the final initiation
In the New Testament, the return of Christ is an eschatological hope with public and communal force. Revelation portrays the Lamb's victory and the disclosure of his rule. The Royal Art also reads the Second Coming inwardly: Christ is recognized in the soul and extended through healed relationships. These readings are related here without making John's imagery merely private.
In the Course's account, the Second Coming concerns the awakening of the Sonship rather than a spectacle of condemnation. Its inner form is the relinquishment of the ego's claim to rule. The true King is recognized where the false king had been enthroned. This is an awakening shared with others, because the belief in separation is undone in relationship.
The final sequence distinguishes the Second Coming, the Real World, and Heaven. Christ's return names the recognition and extension of truth. The Real World is healed perception. God's final step carries the mind beyond perception into knowledge. The Book ends with that final translation.
