Neptune the God
In Roman mythology, Neptune is the powerful god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses, serving as the direct counterpart to the Greek god Poseidon. Originally a minor deity associated purely with fresh water and springs in early Roman belief, he expanded his domain over the vast oceans as Roman culture absorbed Greek myths. He is one of the three supreme brothers who divided the universe after defeating their father Saturn, with Jupiter ruling the skies, Pluto governing the underworld, and Neptune commanding all the waters. He holds a deep mythological connection to horses and was heavily worshipped as "Neptunus Equester," the patron and protector of horse racing, an incredibly popular sport in ancient Rome featuring dedicated festivals in his honor.
