The Wizard is not merely an occultist but the archetype of conscious participation. The world has structure; structure bears meaning; meaning can be read; and what is read can sometimes be worked with. The lower magician asks, “How can reality obey me?” The Royal Wizard asks, “How must I change so that action becomes consonant with divine order?” The worker is part of the system being transformed.
