In the Beginning…

Genesis 1:1 reads: בְרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ (Bereishit bara Elohim et hashamayim ve'et ha'aretz)

  • Bereishit = "in the beginning" (literally: "in the beginning-ness" or "at the head of")
  • bara = created
  • Elohim = God/the Gods
  • et hashamayim = the heavens
  • et ha'aretz = the earth

Ein Sof (the Infinite, absolute non-differentiated Reality) exists prior to and independent of creation The Sephiroth (the ten emanations) unfold from Ein Sof as the structure of manifestation Genesis 1:1 describes the lowest rung of this ladder—the material world coming into being

Before the beginning was Void Beyond and before time, Void became pregnant with potential Void became aware of it’s potential energy Void as infinity, as all potential, all possibility - wished to know itself/experience itself. Void imagined and dreamed out of itself. Thus Void exploded into manifestation

Void became aware of itself as this loving, playful self-awareness. Void wondered “Who am I?” This self-reflection created two This mirroring became infinite in the All’s desire to know/experience itself.

בְּרֵאשִׁית.

Berashith בְּרֵאשִׁית. ”In Beginning…” ”container of existence - fiery breath of radiant life sealed in a container.”

The root is resh, meaning “head,” “origin,” “chief,” or “first principle.” The prefix b- means “in,” “with,” or “through.” The entire expression can be rendered in several legitimate ways:

“In beginning” “In a beginning” “In principle” “In the head” “In wisdom” “By means of the first principle”

Traditional Jewish exegesis often reads Berashith as “With Reshith,” and interprets Reshith as one of the divine emanations. In some commentaries Reshith is identified with Hokhmah, divine Wisdom. As a result Berashith can mean “With Wisdom God created…”

In Kabbalistic literature Berashith is treated as a compact cosmogony. The word is taken to refer to the point at which infinite unmanifest being contracts or concentrates to produce the first “head” or principle from which creation unfolds. It can be mapped to the emergence of Keter and the supernal triad. The word is often associated with the moment when the undifferentiated Infinite becomes self-reflective, producing the first distinction between subject and object.

“I am”: 1 -2 -3

The Supernal Triad 1 - “I Am” - deity is ONE and alone 2 - “I am this/that” - deity becomes self conscious - reflection 3 - “I am not that” - knowledge of difference between “I” and “Not I”. “I and Thou”

Self-Reflection - Consciousness

I am Awareness, awareness

Self-reflection The one being aware of itself

The beginning of all of manifest Creation.

“I Am”… “But who am I?”… “And who are you?”

If there is an “I”, then there is also a “thou”…. If there is my self, then there is also that which is not myself….

The Origin of the Universe

“The first known thing in creation is infinity. Then infinity becomes aware. ... As the Creator decides to experience Itself, It manifests what we would perceive as outer space. As the Creator continues to experience Itself, It manifests free will and Love. ... The action of free will upon Love creates manyness. Manyness first starts out as an outpouring of randomized creative force, which then creates patterns. The patterns of energy begin to regularize their own rhythms and fields, thus creating dimensions and universes. The galaxy, and all other material things, are the products of individualized portions of intelligent infinity. Each individualized portion of the One would become a Co-Creator and creates a universe. Each universe would evolve with its own set of natural laws. Any portion of any universe, no matter how small, contains, as in a holographic picture, the one Creator which is infinity. Thus, all begins and ends in mystery.”

The Big Bang of Consciousness

“Your so called Big Bang, was actually a big joke. It was a big laugh. It was a big AHA. It was a big realization. And the cosmic joke is, that it was there all along. And yet - until realized - it was inert.”
