Why Is Everything Normal Called Fascist - Michael Millerman
The 20th century was a battle between three ideologies: liberalism, communism, and fascism. Liberalism won. (although those “liberal” governments are being run largely in a crypto-fascist way behind the scenes)
The consequence: anyone who is not a liberal and not to the left of liberalism is now branded a fascist, rascist, bigot, a Nazi, an enemy of mankind.
Ordinary people are demonized for defending ordinary things — the nuclear family, normality, beauty actually being beautiful, things being good and not degenerate. These people are called far-right extremists.
"Discover the virtues of right-wing anti-liberalism in a world that has told you constantly about the vices. Do it at the high plane of serious study.” - Michael Millerman
"Reference to Plato means reference to an ideal of excellence, of virtue, of criticism of democracy, of criticism of freedom as the ultimate ideal, of criticism of equality as the ultimate ideal. It's a world where the gods are back as the grantors of the legitimacy of law. It's a world where the philosopher is the highest type among men — not the crazy perverted postmodern philosopher, but the philosopher like Socrates, who actually pursues the good life and is the most just of men." - Michael Millerman
The liberal victory in the 20th century led to a systematic suppression of all thought that is neither liberal nor leftist. This suppression was motivated by genuine fear of repeating the horrors of fascism, but it overreached — throwing out not only the extremes but also the classical foundations of Western thought: Plato, Aristotle, the pursuit of virtue and excellence, hierarchy, the sacred, and sound statesmanship. The result is an inverted world where normality is called fascism, where common sense is labeled extremism, and where the philosophical tradition that built civilization is off-limits. The corrective is not to embrace the vulgar or violent forms of rightist thought, but to recover the serious, thoughtful, philosophical tradition that was thrown out — to get back on the horse that spooked us, and to rediscover the virtues that were lost when we closed the door on everything that was not liberal or leftist.
"Discover the virtues of right-wing anti-liberalism in a world that has told you constantly about the vices."
Do it at the high plane of serious study. Read the thoughtful political philosophers, past and present. Fight the temptation to reduce everything to its most vulgar, nauseating, and violent form.
"This is how you figure out what's going on. This is the corrective. And this is how you understand why almost everything that was once called basically normal — sound common sense — is today called far-right, neo-Nazi, fascist resurgence."
The Nature of Right-Wing Anti-Liberalism
What characterizes this suppressed tradition? It is:
- More for hierarchy than for equality - hierarchy is natural, equality is enforced through violence.
- More for virtue than for freedom as the ultimate ideal - virtue requires work and overcoming and is being aligned with divine
- More for excellence than for its alternatives - it’s ok and good to elevate excellence
- More for what is exclusive, rare, and perfect than for the inclusive and the lowest common denominator - our society should be structured towards meritocracy and value of the skilled, beautiful, noble.
- A world of rank - rank is inevitable, and it should be enacted in service of the Good, the Beautiful and the True
- A world of Tradition - the accumulated myth, art, culture, religion, etc. of humanity is immensely valuable. We should be constantly seeking to live within a true Tradition.
- A world of the Sacred - the Sacred must be at the center of the individual’s life and the society/nation. A culture that rejects the Sacred is inevitably depraved, degraded, and insane.
- A world of intellect and its breakthrough discoveries
