Snapshot: 10 October 2026, from the current live SAB — The One Gospel manuscript.
Purpose: An inspectable verse-number-to-scene citation index for Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The four linked child pages list each chapter, all its verse spans, and the corresponding permanent internal scene ID (e.g. §158). IDs are defined in the Editorial Commentary & Endnotes section registry and remain stable even if chapter titles or positions change.

What these numbers do—and do not—prove
- Covered means at least one source-reference range in the current manuscript includes the numbered verse. It does not establish that every Greek clause, distinct Synoptic wording, or significant manuscript variant has survived in the final English prose. That requires manual source collation.
- Multiple-scene citations are cross-references to one numbered verse from more than one scene, not automatic proof of duplicated English wording. Several result from deliberate partial-verse subdivisions marked a and b.
- A source reference to part of a verse counts that verse as referenced here. Each Gospel subindex separately records the manuscript's a/b source spans for precise checking.
- This is a snapshot. New manuscript edits to source citations require regeneration or manual synchronization. The canonical numbering totals assume the conventional 28/16/24/21 chapter structure of Matthew/Mark/Luke/John.
- Material from the Gospel of Thomas, Acts, and 1 Corinthians is excluded from the four-Gospel verse totals. The Thomas sayings have their own integration ledger.
- Scene IDs §1–§221 include the Pentecost epilogue, plus four lettered Thomas-only insertion identifiers in the register. The main manuscript's chapter and scene headings may shift without changing the permanent identifiers.
Recommended use in the final translation pass
Work through the Greek and English source in canonical verse order (or follow the manuscript's scene order, using this index to confirm the four-source coverage). Check each cited verse for distinctive clauses, source-specific details, translation accuracy, and any known significant textual variant. If a detail is compressed, record whether it is preserved elsewhere; if not, decide whether to restore it or explain its omission. Add the resolution to the Editorial Commentary & Endnotes, not silently to the index. Recheck the original Gospel context when individual clauses from different witnesses have been combined.
Index pages
The four native child pages immediately below contain the full source-book maps: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Use Notion search or page Find to locate a chapter:verse reference. For example, John 2:14–22 maps to §158 (the late Temple-cleansing scene), while John 2:13 and 2:23–25 map to §31.
Editorial status
